With the Common Core Standards rolling out in the near future, we are all aware of how important it will be to bring literacy instruction into to all content areas. Through discussions I've had and work I've done with secondary teachers, I've learned that most content area teachers have received little training in the area of literacy. This two-day workshop will provide participants with 1) a deeper understanding of research-based reading, discussion, and writing strategies, 2) simple tools for effective implementation that all content area teachers can immediately employ in their classrooms, and 3) teaching tips that will benefit students of ALL academic levels.
