Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse News: Back-Up Tunnel Being Prepared, Trapped Workers Served Food, Fruits

Efforts to rescue 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand are underway. The rescue teams are now trying to form a passage by installing 900 mm pipe inside the tunnel to help the trapped workers come out.

The rescue operation reached its third day on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, trucks loaded with the pipe and drilling machines reached the tunnel site. A platform is being prepared for the machines to work in the horizontal direction for the pipe to be pushed through the debris and evacuate the workers. The 900 mm pipe would be wide enough for the workers to pass through.
