One Christmas spirit, a spare hour, and an unexplained burst of nostalgia later, I decided to recreate the "Silent Night" segment from Disney's Very Merry Christmas Songs in HD.

Using a digital version of the VHS itself for reference, readily available HD footage of the "Ave Maria" scene from Fantasia, and recreating the visuals of the lyrics in HD, I have matched the timings of the original sequence and updated the colour palettes where appropriate. The colour palette of the second verse's background visuals have also been adapted slightly, as this section in Fantasia is already transitioning into dawn, and it appears an extra layer of blue was placed over the footage to preserve the "Silent Night" for slightly longer. The colour palette of the sunrise has also been brightened slightly from Fantasia's HD restoration as well, in order to preserve the atmosphere of the "Silent Night" sequence on VHS (the Blu-ray version is more muted by comparison.)

The Christmas themed Disney Sing Along Songs volumes are an annual tradition for many, even though they have not been available commercially since the days of VHS. Since then, HD and 4K editions of all of Disney's Animated Classics have been made available through Blu-ray and streaming on Disney Plus, while the footage used in the Disney Sing Along Songs collection remains at the quality level of VHS. I felt that I should do my part in rectifying this as much as a Disney fan could.

This may not be my final HD Fan Recreation from Disney's Very Merry Christmas Songs collection, I just felt this was a relatively straightforward sequence to test the waters with (largely unedited background footage, readily available HD content and fonts, no "bouncing mouse", etc.)
