00:00 Introduction
The SBSA001 has a steel case & bezel, metallic blue bezel insert, full steel bracelet, and blue sunray dial. The SBSA reference indicates that it is manufactured in Japan.

00:49 First Look On-The-Wrist
On the wrist, the Seiko 5 Sports SBSA001 sits slightly tall on the wrist but is nevertheless very comfortable and handsome. The full bracelet also balances out the watch head quite well.

The case specs of the Seiko SRPD51 and SBSA001 are:
42.5mm in diameter
46mm lug-to-lug
13.4mm thick
22mm between the lugs (strap size)

03:00 Brief Comparison with SRPD87
The SRPD87 is the same watch except it is sold on a blue NATO strap. We've reviewed the SRPD87 here:    • Seiko SRPD87 Review: All-Blue Diver O...

03:35 Steel Case & Bezel Details
The case of the SRPD51 / SBSA001 has lug holes that make it a breeze to change the bracelet for another strap or other type of band.

Atop the case is a steel, undirectional diver's bezel with a blue metallic insert. The insert has a silver diver's scale. The outside of the bezel is textured to improve grip. The color of the insert ranges from a deep blue to almost purple depending on the lighting.

The crystal used is a Seiko Hardlex crystal that is both scratch-resistant and shatter-proof.

04:55 SRPD51 Blue Sunray Dial
Up-close, the texture of the SBSA001 is evident and very attractive. There are also applied hour indices that are filled with green Seiko LumiBrite luminous material.

The hands have a polished steel finish and are also filled with luminous. The seconds hands boasts a nice dual-tone finish.

06:32 Made in Japan (SBSA001) vs. Mov't Japan (SRPD87) Comparison
The small prints on the dial below the 6 o'clock index and the second language of the day disc compose the majority of the differences.

07:50 Full Stainless Steel Bracelet
While the 3-link bracelet of the Seiko SBSA001 could be easily removed, I'm not sure you'd want to as it certainly adds to the overall look of this watch. The links taper slightly from the case to the clasp and have the same finish as the case.

The clasp is a deployant/folding type of clasp with a dual-button release and "fold-over" component.

09:28 4R36 Movement
This Seiko SRPD51 is powered by a self-winding Seiko 4R36 movement that can be viewed through the crystal caseback. The movement has a 42-hour power reserve, hacking seconds function, can be wound through the crown, and has bridges that possess a nice brushed finish.
