Like I kinda said before, this game’s storyline seems to be a glorified remake of Super 3’s, with Buggler reviving the Five Dastardly Bombers and all.


Here, 1-5, 1-7, and 1-8 are enemy elimination levels, while 1-6 has you turn on all of its switches. Watch out for the robot frog in these levels. Killing them is hard because they can hop over your explosions. However, you can take advantage of the fact that they instantly detonate your bombs when they jump on them.
As far as progress itself, it seems to take after Super 2’s level sequencing more: You go through 10 levels per world, with the 9th level being against one of those dastards, and then the 10th level being against their machine.

Super R makes this less Arcade-like by letting you take breaks, and then coming back to the same level. You can’t save whatever items you picked up in your current level, and your current lives for a World will be saved, but this doesn’t include the ones you lost in the current level.

You can also stop the level and change characters. For this playthrough, I’m only going to switch between the different Bomberman Bros. for their different voices and animations. None of them have special abilities in Story Mode.

I switched from White to Red here because he practically led the real charge through this world’s base by preferring to blast through everything rather than following White’s stealth plan. He’s a wild one! Which is why the color red suits him!
