"Robinson Crusoe" is a novel written by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719. It tells the story of a man named Robinson Crusoe, who is shipwrecked on a deserted island and must learn to survive on his own.

The novel begins with a brief account of Crusoe's early life, including his rebellious nature and desire for adventure. Against to the disapproval of his family, Crusoe sets out to sea and becomes a successful trader. However, he is captured by pirates and sold into slavery in Africa. He eventually manages to escape and returns to England, where he decides to set out on another sea voyage.

During this voyage, Crusoe's ship is caught in a storm and he is the only survivor. He washes up on a deserted island off the coast of South America and is forced to live alone for nearly three decades. At first, Crusoe struggles to survive and is constantly plagued by loneliness and despair. However, he eventually learns to live off the land and build himself a comfortable life on the island.

One day, Crusoe discovers a native man, Friday, who has been left for dead by his own tribe. Crusoe takes Friday in and teaches him the ways of Western civilization. The two become close companions and work together to improve their lives on the island.

Years later, Crusoe is finally rescued by a group of Englishmen and returns to civilization. He is reunited with his family and reflects on the lessons he learned during his time on the island.
