For my midterm project, I focused on advanced styles and layout design techniques in
Adobe InDesign, specifically for creating and preparing books for publication on platforms such
as Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Building on what we learned in class about margin options,
page setup, and layout structure, I explored how to design professional multi-page documents
suitable for print and digital distribution.
My presentation, which ran approximately eight minutes, demonstrated how page size,
grid systems, and style consistency affect readability and print quality. I also explained how
most publishing platforms prefer book page counts to be in multiples of eight, especially for
children’s picture books, since that format aligns with standard printing processes.
Several of my illustrations were originally created in Adobe Photoshop and then imported
into InDesign to integrate with the overall layout. I recorded my tutorial using Zoom, edited the
audio in Adobe Premiere Pro, and incorporated motion graphics from Adobe After Effects, skills
I learned in a previous course with Professor Garcia.
This project was produced under my creative brand, SlickkTolo CrazyCre8tions
Professional Ltd. Liability Co., as part of my ongoing work developing my books SlickkTolo’s
Little Adventures (a children’s book) and SlickkTolo’s Vision (an extended edition for a broader
audience). This experience deepened my understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite and how
each tool can be combined to produce professional, publication-ready results.
