As part of the Rs. 2.5 Billion Data Darbar Expansion & Remodeling Project, the LDA and TEPA have started a grand operation, tearing down decades-old markets, including the famous Parinda Market (Bird Market) and nearby commercial shops.

This project aims to widen the Circular Road and build a 3-level underground parking plaza for the 300,000+ daily visitors to Data Ali Hajveri Darbar. However, the demolition has left local traders in tears and raised questions about the preservation of Lahore’s history.
