Walking along the quirky route of Ovington Avenue through Brooklyn NY. Ovington Avenue spans two neighborhoods - Bay Ridge and Northern Dyker Heights. Starting on Ridge Blvd, we will walk the route on this stretch of road that is broken up into 2 sections. The first section lies between Ridge Blvd and 7th Avenue - taking the place of 70th street. We will then have to make our way to 68th street and walk some distance before Ovington picks back up on 10th Avenue, where it will take the place of 68th street. The street finally "ends" for good on New Utrecht Avenue, just off of 15th Avenue - where it becomes 68th Street once again. As you can see - this is why us locals consider it a strange and confusing stretch of road.

Ovington Avenue has been around for a long time, dating back to the 1800's. Before becoming Ovington Avenue, it was known as Cedar Lane. In any case, it holds it original place amongst the newer grid of streets that now make up Brooklyn. This is why the street gets broken up in a couple of spots. Ovington Avenue was one of the streets that was hit by a major tornado in 2007 (I misspoke on the walk and might have said 2006).
