Kenya is in the thick of yet another health crisis, this time pitting nurses against the government. And tonight as the salaries and remuneration commission shifted the blame over the nurse’s strike to the council of governors, at least 8 people have been confirmed dead in Mombasa alone in what has been linked to absence of nurses. The nurses union leadership is divided over the legality of the strike, but the crisis has gripped hospitals across the nation as patients were turned away, some so sick that walking away from public hospitals nearly killed them.
