Stinger (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Stinger (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Konami's 1987 shoot 'em up game for the NES, Stinger.

Stinger is the Americanized port of Moeru Twinbee!, the sequel to TwinBee, a Japanese-only arcade shooter that was ported to the Famicom and the MSX computer. It uses an upgrade system similar to Gradius, but instead of picking up glowing orbs to choose your upgrade, you have to shoot bells that appear after shooting from clouds - every 5 shots that the juggled bell is hit by upgrades the powerup another step. It's odd, confusing, and somewhat offputting.

Anyways, the game is classic Konami goofiness, and like Parodius!, the graphics are pretty amusing the majority of the time, and quite advanced for their time. The game is extremely impressive given its release date, and it's even more so when you consider it's a cartridge port of a 1986 Famicom Disk System title. Just make sure that you play it with an Advantage stick: the lack of an in-game turbo shot is murder on the thumbs.

Once the game is completed and the ending has finished, the game loops back to the beginning and reruns the levels with different color palettes, and there are some new sprites introduced to replace those in the first run. This playthrough ends after completing the first stage of the second loop.

*This is a new video to replace my ancient original playthrough of Stinger. This one is encoded at 60fps, so the flickering will not cause things to disappear now. That's important for a shooter, dontcha think?
