My rejection of a false report which I believe was made by a publicity seeker. It was made in the immediate aftermath of the tragic Davis Family Murders in Los Angeles, February, 1940, and published in The Los Angeles Times. Suspicion swirled around 11-year-old survivor Chloe Davis and to this day some aspects of the case lead some people to believe she was responsible. In this video we present a former neighbor's story in which she claimed her own little girl told her Chloe was abusive to her mother. We provide the response by Mr. Davis as well as later testimony on the witness stand by Chloe's sixth-grade teacher, a children's librarian, and two neighbors (as we did in Part I). The former neighbor did not testify on the witness stand with the alleged story. I'm not here to blame the newspaper or the police for creating false stories though they may have done so from time to time. A lot of ordinary people inject themselves into headline-making stories, and many have confessed to crimes they did not commit. To say that Chloe, described as an obedient child, beat her mother with a broomstick indicating that Mrs. Davis was passive and under the control of her 11-year-old, is on par with believing that all those who confessed to sensational murders were a part of them.
