CoPilot was the first AI-assisted coding tool. Now there is ChatGPT, Bard, Amazon CodeWhisperer, and others. AI-assisted code generation will be a big part of the future. New cross-functional teams - frequently including or part of OSPOs - are being asked to come up with guidelines to help companies manage how these tools will be used. The primary concerns around AI use are: 1. The generation of possibly-infringing material 2. Trade secret loss/leakage 3. Loss of (or giving away) data rights 4. Barriers to competition/non-compete clauses in terms of use 5. Copyright protection (or not) of material generated using AI How are companies dealing with these questions? And what are the real risks? This session will dive deep into some of the thorny legal questions raised by AI code assistants to help attendees understand the issues and be able to advise their companies about this fast-developing area.
