More details are emerging in the investigation into the death of a 7-year-old girl in Roseville, where a mother and her partner now face murder and child abuse charges. Jessica Savangsy and Retuquel Dupree were both arrested and are being held at South Placer Jail. In separate interviews with ABC10, each offered conflicting accounts of what happened and placed blame on the other.

Savangsy said she found her daughter unresponsive Monday morning and claimed she did not intend for the abuse to result in death. She alleged Dupree was abusive toward her and her children and said her younger daughter is alive but seriously injured and hospitalized. Dupree denied all allegations, saying he never harmed the children and was not home the day before the incident. He said he noticed injuries only after being woken up.

Both acknowledged they were living together but separated. Roseville police confirmed the 7-year-old died and the younger child was injured. Savangsy said accountability means both adults should serve time, while Dupree maintains his innocence. Both are expected to be arraigned in court.
