In this video segment of our 2020 mid-range combine walk-around video series, our expert service technician completes a detailed walk-around of the front feeding system of a Case IH 2388 combine to get it ready for harvest. Starting with the feeder house, Dustin covers what to look for on a visual inspection of the feeder house mechanism of a combine including the feeder house faceplate, the feeder chain, the feeder chain slats, and the feeder floor pan. He also covers the 3 different settings for the distance between the feeder chain slat and the feeder floor pan and which to choose due to crop type/conditions and how/where to change the setting. The feeder chain tension adjustment process is covered, along with the tension setting and adjustment process on the feeder belt drive. Also discussed is the stripper plate adjustment at the top of the feeder house. Dustin then talks about the rock trap including what to look for with the rock trap blades and the correct drive chain tension setting and demonstrates how/where to make adjustments to it.
