History:
On August 6, 1945, during the final stages of World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This event instantly killed tens of thousands of people and caused widespread devastation, leaving a lasting scar on the city and the world. The bombing marked a turning point in the war and ushered in the nuclear age

The Atomic Bomb Dome, officially known as the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, is one of the few structures left standing near the hypocenter of the explosion. Severely damaged but miraculously still standing, it serves as a stark reminder of the bomb's destructive power and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site, a symbol of peace and remembrance

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, built on the site of the former city center, is a place of reflection and remembrance. It features various monuments and memorials dedicated to the victims of the bombing, including the Children's Peace Monument, a poignant tribute to the young lives lost. The park aims to promote peace and prevent future nuclear catastrophes. It's a space for contemplation and a powerful reminder of the importance of peace and understanding. We had planned to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, located within the park, but unfortunately, it closed at 4:30 PM before we could arrive.
