Grandfather, War Chief and Leader of the Oglala branch of the Teton Sioux, Chief Red Cloud (1820-1909.., in this world).. was born in present-day, north-central Nebraska near the forks of the Platte River, in 1822.

Chief Red Cloud was one of the most important leaders of the Oglala Lakota Sioux People,. from 1868 to 1909. He was one of the most capable American Indian opponents, that the United States Army faced in its mission to settle the western territories, leading a successful campaign in 1866–68 known as: "Red Cloud's War", over control of the Powder River Country in northeastern Wyoming and southern Montana.

The largest action of the war was the "Battle Of The Hundred Slain" (a.k.a.: The Fetterman Fight), with 81 Army soldiers killed and was the worst military defeat suffered by the Arm., on the Great Plains, until the Battle of the Little Bighorn, ..ten years later.

Chief Red Cloud’s name, (Maȟpíya Lúta) which in Sioux actually means “Scarlet Cloud,” refers to an unusual formation of crimson clouds that hovered over the western horizon when
he was born.
