Mazda MX5 | Water Leak Detection Service |

💧 It's that screw again! This time it seems to have been caught early before the car filled with water.

That screw over the scuttle is the main leak on this Mazda, which is no surprised as it is seems to be a problem on every MX5 we see.

However, as with all convertible cars of a certain age, it's worth checking the drainage system and the condition of the rubbers for the convertible roof. As is the case here, there are a few issues but nothing major and the issue can be fixed by giving it all a good clean, reviving the rubbers so they are nice and plump, and re-attaching that pipe.

A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.

💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.

☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.
