Ottawa is Canada's picturesque capital, full of cultural attractions and natural beauty. The city's Rideau Canal, which is great for ice-skating in winter and boating in summer, is surrounded by pathways for walking and cycling on warmer days. The Ottawa locks were one of the city's first structures and are still functioning today.

Next to the locks is Parliament Hill where each summer morning the crowds watch the Changing of the Guard Ceremony under the Peace Tower. In summer, the pop-up terraces along the downtown waterfront and al-fresco restaurants in districts such as Little Italy draw the crowds. A good place to try Ottowa's "Beavertail" pastries and Quebec's fresh fruit is the ByWard Market.

The locks' 1827 Commissariat Building is now the Bytown Museum. Ottawa other museums include the National Gallery of Canada, the working farm of the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation And Space Museum. Cross over to Quebec and visit the Canadian Museum of Civilization, a recreation of the past. While here, venture into Gatineau Park with its walking trails, lakes and the MacKenzie King Estate.

Come to Ottawa, a great place to start your voyage to discover Canada's unique culture and breathtaking wilderness.
