Ukraine’s parliament has passed a new anti-corruption bill rolling back a law enacted earlier this month that provoked protests and international backlash owing to fears that it was watering down the country’s efforts to battle graft.

EU backs Ukraine’s anti-corruption reforms:
President of the European Council António Costa commented on the recent legislative changes restoring the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies, describing the new bill as a “welcome step.” Costa also stressed the importance of continuing reforms to strengthen the rule of law in the country.
