Tigress "Zeenat" On The Run, Exhausting Forest Officials Across Two States

A tigress named Zeenat has become a major concern for forest officials in Odisha and West Bengal, keeping them on their toes. Zeenat is covering 25-30 km daily, initially moving from Similipal in Odisha to Jharkhand and now into West Bengal. Over 130 forest personnel from both states are tracking her movements. Jinnat has already crossed West Medinipur and Jhargram in West Bengal, reaching the Bandwan forest in Purulia. An experienced tiger-catching team from the Sunderbans is also involved in efforts to capture Jinnat. She is currently about 130 km from her original location in Similipal, Odisha. There are fears that she could enter populated areas at any time, leading the West Bengal forest department to issue high alerts in several places. The Similipal authorities are increasingly worried about the need to quickly tranquilize and return the tigress.
