First: Sorry this video is (just a bit) long! Tried to make it as brief as possible but it covers a very involved 6-month build process. I wanted to cover everything, not just about the X1, but about the battery pack build, the BAC2000 controller, the bike itself, and my 2nd round of mods, upgrading brakes, suspension, wheels, and more.
Also, as I've built many high-performance e-bikes in the past using both the ERT Kit 72v BBSHD (3300W) and the Tangent Ascent (6000w), I thought it would be informative to compare the 72v X1 to those builds.
This covers the build process of my 2015 Canyon Nerve in Ukraine. It turned out to be a great fast dual-suspension e-bike. I built everything myself, including the battery pack and 3D-printed battery box. At first, I just planned to upgrade the bike to having the X1 powerplant and 72v battery. But after this first version was completed, I realized the rest of the bike - brakes, wheels, hubs, fork, tires, everything - needed to also be upgraded to match the great powerplant.
I decided to go top-of-the-line on nearly all components, but this definitely was not a "price no object" build.
Only parts remaining from the original bike are the frame, seat & post, shock, and stem.
