On highway one, between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem near the Beit Shemesh intersection we drive by the fortress of Latrun. During the 1948 War of Independence this was a main fortification held by the Arabs.

Many Jewish lives were lost during the battle here.

Later in the video we can see the hand planted forests in the hills leading to Jerusalem.
