Midnight in Moscow (aka “Podmoskovnye Vechera”)

"Midnight in Moscow" is a haunting and evocative jazz standard originally composed by Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi in 1955 under the title "Podmoskovnye Vechera" (Evenings Near Moscow). It became internationally famous in the 1960s when it was popularized by Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen as an instrumental trad-jazz hit, retitled "Midnight in Moscow."

Perry Robinson, an avant-garde jazz clarinetist known for his unique phrasing and experimental spirit, brought a fresh and expressive interpretation to the tune. His version is especially notable for its emotional depth and lyrical clarinet playing, capturing both the melancholic beauty of the melody and the improvisational freedom of jazz.
