CTrix, a brilliant Australian Chiptune musician, performed at the Low Level Festival pre-party show in Brooklyn in August of 2016. One of the things he did there was that he managed to make a song on the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive outside of North America) where a full vocal track was actually coming out of the audio chip (I was used to hearing only half-second samples out of the Genesis' YM2612 sound chip and nothing more). I was so amazed by what he was doing and I couldn't figure out how he was able to do what he was doing…

…until two days later.

Meanwhile, I have subscribed to the OWSLA IV label-subscription download service at drip.kickstarter.com. In addition to getting new music from the label "dripped" for subscribers to download as soon as they're available, there are also other benefits including meet-and-greets with the artists on the label (such as the founder, Skrillex himself!) and stems of some of the tracks that the label distributes. One such track was Kill The Noise's and Feed Me's "I Do Coke", for whom they released the A Capella (labelled by the label as a "Snortapella").

So, inspired by CTrix's amazing Genesis work, it was my idea to make a "demix" (or "demake") of Kill The Noise's & Feed Me's "I Do Coke" using the A Capella and a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive tracker called DefleMask to target the Sega Genesis.

This is the fruit of that labor.

If you click on the link below, you can download the PCM track, as well as the chiptune VGM file and the binary ROM file to play back on a Kega Fusion emulator or-if you have Sega Genesis 1, 2, 3, or a Sega Nomad and an Everdrive MD cartridge–to play back the file itself on a Sega Genesis system!
