In-between its Bluebird and Decca affiliations, the Messner band spent a year recording for Eli Oberstein’s Varsity label...and produced this well-remembered track. The mildly suggestive novelty resulted in threatened legal action against Oberstein by the managing director of the Astor Hotel of New York, claiming that the song was “slanderous.”
