Today, we’re giving my grapevine bed a much-needed upgrade! When I first built this space, I used wooden fence boards and wire fencing, but over time, the wood rotted, and the fencing restricted the growth of my pollinator plants. Now, we’re rebuilding it with retaining wall stones for durability and redesigning the trellis into a pergola so the grapevines can grow up and over, allowing plenty of space for pollinator-friendly flowers to spread underneath.

This space has already proven its ability to attract pollinators (I even got stung by a bee while planting!), so I’m excited to see how this transformation improves both the functionality and aesthetics of the space.
