How the Dutch deal with Heritage

Описание к видео How the Dutch deal with Heritage

This documentary tells about the Dutch experience in adapting built heritage to current needs. The Dutch experience not only differs in the large amount of examples; more specifically it shows a number of creative solutions in design, in financial constructions and in combining public, private and civic interest. Besides, the Dutch heritage authorities are very cooperative in the redevelopment process.

In this documentary, which goes with the exhibition and book under the same title, four key players are interviewed. Paul Meurs and Marike Steenhuis, the authors of the book and curators of the exhibition, give an overview of the Dutch experiences. Susan Lammers, general director of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science) explains the facilitating role of her department. Floris Alkemade, Governments Architect, tells about the role architects play in the redevelopment process. Bart Schoonderbeek, Dutch entrepreneur, shares his experience in redeveloping the former toothpaste factory in Amersfoort.”
