Stem Cell therapy is a promising approach for foot conditions. Let me first explain what stem cells are and what they do in your body.

A stem cell is an undifferentiated cell that can turn into any other cell. Based on where these cells are located they turn into and repair the tissue in that location.

For example, if you put a stem cell near a nerve it will develop into nerve cells if it is near a tendon or ligament it will turn into those types of cells.

There are a few ways we can get access to stem cells.

First, we can inspire your body to repair an injury that produces your stem cells. That is what we do when using shockwave therapy. The medically dosed injury to tissue that is chronically inflamed and injured can help your body to produce its stem cells to repair the tissue.

Amnio injections that are done in the office contain growth factors but do not contain stem cells. They rather trigger your stem cells to work.

Both fat and bone marrow can be used and they both contain live growth factors and live stem cells.

Platelet-rich plasma also known as PRP contains growth factors but not stem cells.
