In February 1988, Leticia Calderón was crowned Queen of the Campeche Carnival.
Eduardo Palomo accompanied her, as he had formed a close friendship with the actress after meeting her on the set of the telenovela Tal Como Somos (1987–88).

That show was the first of three telenovelas they would appear in together.
The other two were The House Down the Street in 1989 and I Buy That Woman in 1990.

Later that year, at the end of 1988, their friendship briefly turned into a romantic relationship that lasted only two or three weeks.
For reasons Eduardo Palomo never fully understood, the relationship didn’t last.

Still, Leticia later stated that she always considered Eduardo her best friend.
