The Story of Holi ✨

Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyap were powerful demons who spread terror across the three worlds. When Hiranyaksha drowned Mother Earth in the cosmic ocean, Lord Vishnu took the Varaha avatar, killed him, and restored balance. Enraged, Hiranyakashyap gained a boon from Brahma—he could not be killed by any man, god, demon, or animal; neither during the day nor night, nor on land, in the sky, or by any weapon. Drunk with power, he declared himself a god.

But his own son, Prahlad, was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. When he refused to worship his father, Hiranyakashyap tried to kill him multiple times, yet Vishnu saved him each time. Finally, his sister Holika, who had a boon that fire couldn’t burn her, took Prahlad into a fire. But by Vishnu’s grace, Holika perished, and Prahlad remained unharmed.

This event is remembered as Holika Dahan, followed by Holi—a festival that celebrates the victory of truth, devotion, and righteousness.
