When you're enrolled only in Original Medicare (Part A and Part B), your dental coverage is extremely limited. In most cases, it doesn't cover routine dental care, such as: cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, and dentures.

🤔 Why is this the case?

Medicare was primarily designed to cover medical needs, like hospital stays and doctor visits. Routine dental care was generally not included in its original scope.

Good oral health is essential to your overall well-being. Problems with your teeth and gums can lead to:

1️⃣ Pain and discomfort
2️⃣ Difficulty eating and speaking
3️⃣ Infections that can spread to other parts of the body
4️⃣ Increased risk of serious health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke

🤔 What are your options for dental coverage?

Since Original Medicare doesn't cover most dental care, you have a few options to get the coverage you need:

1️⃣ Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C): Many Medicare Advantage plans offer extra benefits, including dental coverage. These plans may cover some routine dental care, like cleanings and exams, and may also offer coverage for more extensive procedures, like fillings and extractions.

2️⃣ Stand-alone Dental Plans: You can purchase a separate dental insurance policy from a private insurance company. These plans typically have monthly premiums and may have waiting periods before certain services are covered.
