I was looking for a solution on how to stick the tiles so that they actually stay on the stairs. I found a spray on contact cement that works very well.
3m super 77. I didn’t want to add any wood to the stairs or do major sanding or paint further.

There are used to be carpet on the stairs and all you have to do to get this right and have an easy job is to make sure all the staples are out for a grinder down with the metal or diamond tipped blade. Also I would recommend sanding all the stairs if you have time because after you clean the dust off with a damp cloth and let it dry you will have a nice surface.
In my case the paint on the stairs will do the job I will be cleaning this with a cloth tomorrow and continue to use the spray. The Spray also bonds any kind of dirt or debris that is there and creates a surface that the tile can stick too.

I will post part two to this video when this is all completed. I will also be adding a little bit of wood framing to each stairs like quarter rounds or concave rounds.
