IBM Deskstar 3 DAQA-33240 3.24GB (1996) - Hard Drive Sounds

The DAQA-33240 is the highest capacity member of the Deskstar 3 family, with three platters & six heads. Please enjoy the endless sounds of sector reallocation, with this one being from July 1996.

Unfortunately, there's no OS demo as this drive is in horrendous health. I re-installed Windows about 10 times with differing partition sizes, with no luck (it corrupts, immediately). It'll install, but as soon as it restarts to boot for the first time it completely loses half the files. It's totalled.

I picked up this drive last year as a "spare" for a Deskstar 4 DCAA-34330 in an IBM Aptiva 2176 as they're quite nice sounding, but well this one ended up failing all tests obviously. It was working fine for a couple months and seemed to be doing well, but started having issues out of the blue across the entire capacity. At least the DCAA-34330 is still perfect...
