So my friend made the observation that with these shorter videos I've been putting out, it almost takes more time to read the description than it does to watch the video.

It's interesting as well because I've gone back to some of my earlier videos and the descriptions were much shorter. I think what happened was that I wrote something in the description once, and then people commented on it which encouraged me to write more and now I'm just in this never ending arms race with myself to keep making the descriptions better and better.

Now, granted, people are going to respond differently to the descriptions - like if I do a math related description then people who enjoy math are more likely to respond to the description. Or if I talk about putting honey in coffee, then people who get a kick out of that (or think it's controversial) are more likely to comment.

But then that got me thinking - I wonder if anyone has ever read one of my descriptions and then just said to themselves, "Nah, I'm done" and then unsubscribed. Like surely that has to have happened, right? And I'm sure the reverse has happened to - someone read the description of one of the videos and then thought that "it was the good stuff" and then subscribed.

I wish there were analytics on the descriptions, because sometimes I genuinely wonder how the descriptions impact people's experience with the channel. I know one of my other friends doesn't watch my videos, but does read the descriptions haha so there you have it!
