Woodturning - Walnut toothpick holder.

Hello and welcome to the channel. In this video I take a beautifully figured piece of walnut and make a toothpick holder on the wood turning lathe. I was asked for this by a friend as a gift for another so I thought I would accompany it with a video of the process too.

I start by shaping the blank then and part off a piece for the lid.
Hollowed the body with a forstner bit and cut a recess for the lid to sit in. Unfortunately I made this too large so the fit wasn't secure. I fixed this by adding a collar of blue stained wood veneer to the underside of the lid with Starbond Adhesives CA glue.

The centre piece was also made from walnut and sized just longer than a toothpick plus a bit extra so it can be glued into the lid.

Sealed in shellac, a Liberon wood waxing and finally a wipe over in flaxseed to show of the grain in the sun.
