Restoration of a Lionel Postwar Alco 202 Diesel Locomotive

This old train set I remember running on a 4’X8’ train table in my basement when I was a kid back in 1993. After my dad passed in 2018 I acquired this set along with the Crescent Limited but the engine was apart and damaged. I really considered throwing out the engine or selling the set to a store. My curiosity got to me thinking “can I fix this?” Some mentioned a cleaning / lube and look for original paint and markings. A closer look and researched revealed this is a 1957 Lionel postwar Alco 200A locomotive and freight set (# 275?). Now that I got my answer, I will attempt to restore the Alco with new parts and new paint job.
