I Rode the Hardest Sections of the Oregon BDR SOLO on a Honda CRF300L Rally

The Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route is rated as one of the top 3 hardest BDR routes in the country. I ran the entire Oregon BDR last summer with my friend Tim on my Honda CRF450L, but this time I wanted to attempt a different ORBDR challenge. This time I set out to run Oregon BDR Section 5, Oregon BDR Section 4, and ORBDR Section 3 by myself on my Honda CRF300L Rally.

Along the way I spent a night motorcycle camping and testing out my awesome new motocamping gear setup from ‪@MotoCampNerd‬.

This run was difficult and I crashed my dual sport motorcycle a couple times. I also ended up riding the CRF300L Rally in the pouring rain before coming down to the East side of the Oregon mountains to the high desert and Christmas Valley.

This was my first Solo BDR run and despite the hardship, I'm very pleased with how it went. The CRF300L Rally proved itself more a capable BDR motorcycle, my moto camping gear setup was almost perfect, and I completed 1/3 of the Oregon BDR solo on a motorcycle.
