The Governor of Pennsylvania announced previously paused SNAP benefits will return to recipients in full during a press conference from a Philadelphia food bank on Friday.

Democrat Josh Shapiro said a judge's order on Thursday will result in the people to be paid what they are owed in benefits amid the ongoing government shutdown.

Two million Pennsylvanians rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). "When SNAP was taken away from our fellow Pennsylvanians, we saw an immediate impact," Shapiro said.

Shapiro said the Department of Human Services' (DHS) Secretary Val Arkoosh came up with a plan and the Commonwealth's lawyers secured victory for full payment to recipients.

SNAP recipients can receive their benefits at different points in the month. The ruling says that people who get their benefits on the first of the month should receive 100% of their benefits by midnight Friday into Saturday.
