Thumb Purling for Continental Knitting - An Easier Way to Purl

Welcome to Pattern and Craft!

In this quick tip for knitting video I show you how to purl continental using your thumb to tension the yarn (instead of the index finger). For some this may be more comfortable, more ergonomic, easier, faster, or give a better result or better tension than the traditional continental purl or the Norwegian purl.

I hope this video is helpful, it's always good to learn new techniques to add to your knitting toolbox, right? Maybe thumb purling will be your new favorite way to purl, or maybe it will just come in handy in certain situations.

Demonstrated in continental style knitting.

Materials Used in the video:
• Cascade Ultra Pima DK yarn
• Chiaogoo Circular knitting needles with red lace cord
