In this video, I will be showing you different units and sub-units of Chinese Yuan currency.

The jiao (角) and yuan (元) are both units of currency used in China, but they represent
different denominations within the same monetary system. Here's the distinction:

1. Yuan (元)
Definition: The basic unit of the Chinese currency, officially known as the Renminbi (RMB).
Symbol: ¥ (or 元 in Chinese).
Value: 1 yuan is the primary unit, similar to the dollar in the US or the euro in the EU.
Usage: Used for higher-value transactions and prices.
It is the amount typically referred to when quoting prices (e.g., "This costs 10 yuan").

2. Jiao (角)
Definition: A subunit of the yuan.
Value: 1 yuan = 10 jiao. (1 jiao = 0.1 yuan)
Usage: Used for smaller denominations. Prices or amounts often include both yuan and jiao,
especially for smaller sums (e.g., "2 yuan and 5 jiao" = 2.5 yuan).
Relation to the Fen (分)
There is an even smaller unit called the fen (分):

1 yuan = 100 fen (1 fen = 0.01 yuan).
1 jiao = 10 fen.
Example
If an item costs 5 yuan and 3 jiao, it means: 5.3 yuan (or ¥5.30).

In practical Use
While yuan is common for most transactions, jiao and fen are often used for very small amounts.
In modern practice, with the increasing use of digital payments, smaller denominations like fen are rarely seen.
Coins and banknotes of jiao are still in circulation but less common in everyday transactions.
