What is Capsule Cooking?

Capsule cooking is a way of preparing meals which focuses on ease of preparation and flexibility.

It works by first breaking down your meals into four main capsules (Bases, Nutrients, Proteins, and Flavors). These components are then batch cooked and stored using methods that maximize efficiency and quality. Once your capsules are prepped, meals are as easy as picking one (or a few) items from each category and bringing them together. This method allows for many of the time-saving effects of meal prepping without the monotony of having the same meal every day.

Capsules

Bases: These are ingredients like rice, pasta, salad greens, bread, tortillas, etc. These are typically the ingredient you think of first when deciding the type of food you are looking to have.

Nutrients: This capsule is exactly what you think it is: the healthy stuff. Things like vegetables and fruits which provide all vitamins and micro-nutrients you need.

Protein: This is another straightforward one. This is usually things like meat, eggs, soy, fish, seitan, etc.

Flavors: This capsule covers a lot of different items such as sauces, spice mixes, curries, garlic, ginger, etc. The main focus with this capsule is a flavor combination that can bring everything together. This is where you can define the type of dish you are having and can make a big difference even if all the other capsules are kept the same.
