🌾🐄 West Bengal Aims to Boost Rural Economy Through Cattle Development | Berhampore Event Highlights 🐄🌾

India holds a significant position in the global dairy and cattle development sector. From nutrition to livelihoods, balanced animal-based diets are essential for people of all ages—from 8 to 80! Demand is high, yet after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, milk and cattle production in West Bengal has seen a decline.

But now, efforts are underway to turn the tide.

📍 The West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation, along with the Animal Resource Development Department, is working to revive and uplift the rural economy, particularly in Murshidabad district.

In a special awareness program held at Rabindra Sadan, Berhampore, stakeholders directly and indirectly involved in cattle farming were educated on:

✅ The importance of modern technology in cattle rearing

✅ Government schemes and support available

✅ Identifying and overcoming challenges in rural livestock management

🏆 As part of the initiative, a felicitation ceremony honored the top-performing Artificial Insemination (AI) workers from all 26 blocks of Murshidabad for the 2023-24 financial year. The top three performers in each block were awarded financial grants as encouragement for their service and dedication.

The program was organized by the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation – Murshidabad and the Animal Resources Development Department on Wednesday.

💬 Through a dedicated workshop, participants were sensitized on how to strengthen rural economic structures, close the production gap, and better utilize government schemes.
