FRQ 1 2024 (SET II) Horton's "On Summer" Writing Workshop

Each year when the AP exams are released (both Lang. and Lit.), I sit down at my desk and crank out each of the FRQs.

In today’s writing workshop video, I spotlight FRQ 1 2024 (Set II) George Moses Horton’s “On Summer.”

Here’s what I address in the writing workshop:

1. A demonstration of how to read this particular poem (it was a tad tricky). In particular, I address all of the syntactical maneuvers (especially the odd use of the semicolon).

2. I model how to manipulate my inverted thesis heuristic three times – this should nicely and concretely demystify how to tackle the introductory paragraph

3. From here, I write the body paragraphs with my syllogistic method heuristic

4. And for good measure, I also model how to tag a conclusion paragraph

5. I also address how to sustain the line of reasoning and add elements of complexity
