How to repair the door release mechanism of a whirlpool microwave oven. Door release button failed and would not open prior to repair.

Note: you need a special special torx "security star" screw driver (size t20) to remove the star-shaped screws along the back edges of the cover.

Also, some people said they did not need to remove the silver vent mounted to the side to get the cover off. You might be able to skip those steps.
