Lakshmi always wanted to celebrate her birthday in Northeast India, and this time we made it happen in the beautiful Sangti Valley, Arunachal Pradesh. What started as a peaceful birthday getaway soon turned into one of the most memorable days of our Great Himalayan Ride.

In the morning, we visited a nearby monastery with our homestay owner, where a Rimpoche visiting from Bylakuppe was conducting special rituals. The locals had arranged traditional Yak Dance and cultural performances, giving us a rare glimpse into the vibrant culture of Arunachal Pradesh.

Later, we explored the Sangti village filled with orange trees and drove to Dirang town for lunch — and of course, to pick up a birthday cake. The evening was pure mountain magic as we did a cozy riverside barbecue and celebrated Lakshmi’s birthday at midnight.

The next day, reality hit. We drove back to Guwahati, returned our rental car, and spent one last peaceful day at the homestay before Lakshmi flew back to Kerala. A beautiful chapter of this Northeast India journey comes to an emotional end.
