Technology in Lord of the Rings and its Lore - Airships? - Is Technology not developing in LotR?

The #lore of #LotR and #Tolkien's works cover thousands of years, but it seems there is never really any technological advancement. Why is this? I'll try to answer this question in this video about technology in Lord of the Rings. This topic is however complex and vast, so this is more of an introduction and overview. E.g. I focus on Men and talk a bit about the Elves, but leave out the Dwarves completely. We also look at some parallels to out own history and at what is required for technological advancements.

Interestingly in early drafts of Tolkien we can find he idea of Númenor having airships and engines, potentially even guns.

Also I have cleaned up the the description a bit. I hope you like it.
