What You Need To Know About The Perfect Paramotor Landing

By far the hardest lesson Nathan has had to learn is how to land on his feet. He’s been very lucky not to have hurt himself with some of his bad landings and he wants to share what I he’s learned.

Excuse the edit by the way. Entirely created on an Android phone using Filmorago.

So here are his top tips:

1. Not too tight on your chest and shoulder straps!

2. Prepare early. Trims, seat board, even cutting the motor. Get it done in good time so you can concentrate on the landing.

3. Know your wind direction and land into it! You should always know the wind direction throughout but if in doubt look for clues on the ground - wind sock, other pilots, smoke. If you're still not sure do a 360 and come in again.

4. You need speed. Airspeed that is. So hands up as you are coming in.

5. As you are coming in hot wait until you are around 2m (ish) off the ground and then build brake pressure. It’s not a hand position! It’s pressure on the wing. As Bruce Lee used to say "don't think! feeeel!"

6. Keep on that pressure until you are about car bonnet height and you are applying just the right amount to keep you at a constant level. Try to keep the pressure constant here. If you back off too quick your wing will surge forward and dump you, so hold it.

7. You will feel the speed bleed right off and when its just about to come to an end push alllll the way to the ground. Dump them brakes and that should touch you down just nice.

8. The show ain’t over till that wing’s nicely kited back to the ground. No slamming the leading edge! Trust me I've done it plenty of times. It’s just not good form. Look after your gear. It’s keeping you alive up there.

Just want to end with a massive thank you to Simon at Paramotortraining.com for giving us wings and getting us in the sky.

Also huge thanks to Giles Fowler (   / golffoxtrot22  ) for finding that one phrase that made it click - "check to level"
