Reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to honoring the elderly, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inaugural distribution of cash gifts to the qualified beneficiaries of the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024 (Republic Act No. 11982) at the Heroes Hall in Malacañan Palace on February 26, 2025.

Through the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and partner government agencies, more than PhP2.9 billion will be distributed this year to over 275,000 senior citizens nationwide in recognition of their invaluable contributions to society.

With the United Nations (UN) projecting that Filipinos aged 60 and above will exceed 10% of the population between 2025 and 2030, the Act ensures earlier recognition and financial support for seniors.

Signed into law by President Marcos Jr. last year, Republic Act No. 11982 grants PhP10,000 to seniors upon reaching 80, 85, 90 and 95 years old while maintaining the PhP100,000 cash gift for centenarians under the Centenarians Act of 2016 (Republic Act No. 10868). This expansion guarantees sustained assistance and appreciation for their lifelong dedication to the nation.
