A rather long video of me repairing my wife iPhone 5, which had issues with the volume buttons, and power button not working (I had already replaced the flex cable assembly once).

It shows the phone being dismantled, the old cable being removed and the new flex cable being installed and (obviously) the phone being put back together again.

There are different flex cables online for purchase, some have the metal brackets already attached, others do not, I HIGHLY recommend that if you need to do this, buy one with the brackets, the first time I replaced the cable it was a bit of a mission, as the mute switch mount is a hot pressed fit, which is hard to pull apart and refit onto the new flex cable without damaging the plastic retaining pins, you can do it (like I did last time) but it is a lot easier to just buy the right flex cable to start with. #ifixstuff #thedefpom #electronicsrepair
